The exterior of a car makes the first impression. The interior is where you actually live. For the owner of a luxury or performance vehicle, stepping into a cabin that has been properly detailed is an experience that is difficult to describe until you have felt it - and impossible to forget once you have.
At FX Detailing, our interior detailing service is held to exactly the same standard as everything else we do. That means no shortcuts, no overlooked corners, and no car leaving our studio until every surface inside is as close to perfect as it is physically possible to get.
The Detail That Sets the Standard
When you collect your car from our studio, the first thing you will notice is the carpets. Those crisp, uniform stripes running in alternating directions are not just aesthetics - they are the signature of a deep-cleaned, properly groomed interior. Using specialist interior brushes, we set the pile of every carpet in precise alternating directions, a technique that not only creates the characteristic FX finish but confirms that every fibre has been worked through thoroughly and cleaned at the root level.
It is the kind of detail that tells you the rest of the car has been treated with the same attention.
What Our Interior Detailing Service Covers
Leather Cleaning and Conditioning
Leather seats on luxury vehicles require specific products and specific techniques. Using pH-balanced leather cleaners, we remove ingrained dirt, body oils and surface contamination from every seam, bolster and panel without stripping the leather's natural moisture. We follow with a professional conditioner that restores suppleness and protects against cracking and UV fading.
On perforated leather - common on M sport, AMG and performance trim levels - we use fine brushes to work product into every perforation individually. It is time-consuming. It is also the only way to do it properly.
Carpet and Floor Mat Deep Cleaning
Carpets are removed where accessible and deep cleaned using hot water extraction and specialist carpet shampoos. Ground-in dirt, staining and odour are addressed at the fibre level rather than masked. Floor mats are cleaned separately to the same standard before being returned precisely aligned.
Dashboard, Plastics and Trim
Every hard surface in the cabin is cleaned using appropriate products for the specific material - whether that is brushed aluminium, piano black lacquer, carbon fibre trim, soft-touch plastics or wood veneer. Each requires a different approach. Using the wrong product on piano black, for example, can introduce fine scratches that are visible in direct light. We know the difference.
Alcantara and Suede Cleaning
Alcantara head linings, steering wheels and seat centres require specialist attention. We use dedicated Alcantara cleaners and soft brushes to restore the nap and remove staining without matting the fibres. It is one of the most technically demanding interior surfaces to clean correctly and one we are highly experienced with.
Door Cards, Sills and Jambs
Door cards are cleaned panel by panel including every storage pocket, speaker grille and handle recess. Door sills and jambs - the areas most commonly missed by standard valet services - are decontaminated and dressed to match the rest of the interior finish.
Glass and Mirrors
All interior glass is cleaned with streak-free glass cleaner and lint-free cloths, leaving a crystal-clear finish on every window and mirror surface.
Air Vents and Switches
Using soft detailing brushes and compressed air where needed, we clean every vent, button, switch and dial in the cabin - removing the dust and debris that accumulates in these areas over time and is almost never addressed by a standard valet.
Odour Elimination
For vehicles with embedded odours - whether from food, smoke or general use over time - we offer professional odour elimination treatment as part of the interior detail. This addresses the source of the odour rather than masking it with fragrance.
Why Standard Valeting Falls Short
A standard interior valet will wipe surfaces, vacuum the carpets and apply a dressing. For a £150,000 car, that is simply not enough. The products used by generic valet services are not formulated for the materials found in luxury vehicles. The techniques are not calibrated to the tolerances these interiors demand. And the time invested - typically 30 to 60 minutes for a full interior - is nowhere near sufficient to do the job properly.
At FX Detailing, an interior detail takes as long as it needs to take. We have never handed a car back because we ran out of time. We hand it back when it is finished.

How do you clean Alcantara steering wheels and seats safely?
Alcantara is a delicate synthetic suede that "mats" easily if cleaned with the wrong chemicals. We use dedicated pH-neutral Alcantara cleaners and soft-bristled detailing brushes to lift oils and dirt, restoring the original "nap" and texture without damaging the fibres. This is a core part of our interior detailing service.
Can you remove stains from perforated leather seats?
Yes. Perforated leather (common in ventilated seats) is tricky because liquids can seep through the holes and damage the foam beneath. We use a "dry-foam" cleaning method and fine-tipped brushes to clean every perforation individually, followed by a professional leather conditioner to restore suppleness without clogging the pores.
