The Brief
Sapphire Black Metallic. 510 horsepower. A fabric roof that drops in twelve seconds. An S58 straight-six that pulls from 1,800rpm and does not stop pulling until the limiter cuts off.
The BMW M4 Competition Convertible is not a car that needs help making an impression. It arrives with presence already embedded in every proportion.
The owner knew this. The brief was not to make the car louder or more obvious. It was to make it more complete - to take what BMW had built and push it to the logical conclusion of what it was already trying to be. A full bodykit: front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and boot spoiler, installed to a standard that matched the engineering beneath the bodywork.
Not bolted on. Integrated. As though the factory had always intended it to look this way.
The Installation: How We Approach a Full Bodykit on an M4
Before a single component was permanently fixed to the car, every piece of the kit went through our dry fit assessment.
Each element was offered up to its mounting position and assessed for fit, surface contact and alignment symmetry. Where hand preparation was required to ensure flush fitment against the bodywork - because components, even from quality manufacturers, can carry dimensional variances from the moulding process - therefore this preparation was carried out before proceeding. Not after.
This stage is where most installation shops fail. Bodykit components are bolted on, gaps are filled with adhesive, and the result looks aftermarket in exactly the wrong sense of the word. The part sits on the car rather than being part of it.
At FX Detailing, nothing is permanently fixed until the dry fit is perfect. If the dry fit is not perfect, we make sure it is.
Factory mounting points were used preserving the structural integrity of the bodywork and maintaining the option to return the car to stock. Automotive-grade bonding and mechanical fixings were used throughout - specified for the operating conditions of a car used at the speeds the M4 Competition is capable of reaching.
Panel alignment was checked and rechecked throughout the process. BMW's factory panel tolerances on the M4 are among the tightest in production car manufacturing. The bodykit components needed to integrate with bodywork engineered to those tolerances, not to sit adjacent to it.
The Result: What a Properly Installed Bodykit Looks Like
The rear three-quarter view tells the story.
The rear diffuser frames the quad exhaust exits with purposeful aggression - functional as though it belongs to the aerodynamic architecture of the car rather than sitting beneath it as decoration. The side skirts draw the eye along the full length of the car, visually lowering the roofline and giving the convertible the planted, wide-hipped stance that the standard bodywork promises but never fully delivers.
The boot spoiler adds a clean visual anchor to the rear. The front splitter extends the aggressive lower lip of the M4's bumper and grounds the front of the car with an authority that the standard front only approaches.
Together the four components transform the car's presence without altering a single one of BMW's original design intentions. Subtle enough to be questioned as factory fitment. Aggressive enough to leave no doubt that this car has been properly attended to.
No gaps. No excuses. No visible evidence that the components were not part of the original design. A car returned to its owner looking like a special-edition limited run that BMW forgot to announce.

BMW M4 Bodykit Installation FAQ
Will a Bodykit Installation Affect my BMW Warranty?
We use factory mounting points wherever possible, meaning the installation is non-destructive and can often be returned to stock. At our Surrey studio, we prioritize "integrated fitment" that mirrors BMW’s own factory tolerances, ensuring the kit looks like an OEM M-Performance addition rather than an aftermarket afterthought.
Why is a "Dry-Fit" Necessary for Bodykits?
Even high-quality carbon fibre components can have slight dimensional variances from the moulding process. We dry-fit every splitter and diffuser first, hand-preparing the contact points to ensure a 100% flush finish against the Sapphire Black paint before permanent fixing.
Can you install bodykits on the G80 M3 and G82 M4?
Yes. We specialize in the full BMW M-Power range (M2, M3, M4, M5, M8). We are authorised installers for leading brands like CT Carbon, ensuring that your BMW receives the highest grade of carbon fibre components with precision Surrey-based fitment.
