Why This Project Is Different

Most bodykit installations and ceramic coating jobs are booked as separate visits. Different cars, different owners, different briefs, different days.

Occasionally a car arrives where the brief calls for both - and when it does, the sequence matters as much as the work itself. You do not coat paint before it is corrected. You do not fit bodywork components after the paint they are being fitted against has been brought to its full potential. You do not rush either stage to accommodate the other.

This BMW 8-Series presented exactly that: a full bodykit installation and a complete ceramic coating, carried out in the correct order, to the same standard, without compromise.

The Bodykit Installation

The kit fitted to this 8-Series was selected to enhance the car's visual presence without compromising the integrity of the lines that BMW spent years developing for this Gran Coupe. A front splitter extending the aggressive low stance. Side skirts emphasising the car's width and the length of its flanks. A rear diffuser framing the exhaust exits with a purpose that feels entirely at home on an 8-Series.

Every component underwent our full dry fit process before a permanent fixing was applied. The preparation stage identified the hand-finishing required to ensure each piece sat flush against the bodywork with no visible gap, no panel flex and no misalignment under studio lighting. Bodykit components - even from quality suppliers - carry dimensional tolerances from the manufacturing process. Identifying and addressing those tolerances before fitment is what separates a precision installation from a bolt-on.

Alignment was checked from every angle throughout. The rear diffuser sits within a fraction of the bumper surface on both sides. The splitter flows seamlessly from the front bumper with no step, no visible gap and no transition between original and aftermarket. The side skirts run parallel to the body line they follow, with no bow, no lift and no section that draws the eye for the wrong reason.

The people who see this car will not be able to identify exactly what has changed. They will simply know it looks more purposeful, more aggressive and more resolved than a standard 8-Series. That is the only outcome we work towards on every installation.

The Ceramic Coating

The paint on this 8-Series is the kind of blue that changes character with the light. Under direct sun it is vivid and sharp. Under cloud it deepens and saturates. At night under artificial light it takes on an almost liquid quality. It is a complex, layered metallic that rewards attention and suffers visibly from neglect.

Before any ceramic coating was applied, the paint underwent a full decontamination sequence - snow foam, pH-neutral shampoo wash, iron fallout removal, clay bar decontamination - to remove everything that had accumulated on the surface since the car left the factory. Under specialist lighting the paint was then assessed for defects, and the transit and dealer preparation marks present on almost every new car were identified and corrected through machine polishing.

This stage matters more than most owners realise. A ceramic coating applied over swirled or contaminated paint does not correct those defects - it seals them in permanently. The correction must come first. The coating preserves what the correction reveals.

With the paint at its genuine potential, the ceramic coating was applied panel by panel following a final IPA preparation stage. The result - deep metallic gloss under studio lighting, with the wet-look depth that a professionally corrected and properly coated metallic delivers - will still be there long after the correction because the coating is protecting what was perfected, not masking what was neglected.

The Details That Nobody Will Examine - But That Matter

There is a rear diffuser on this car that most people who see it in a car park will never crouch down to inspect. The alignment of that diffuser to the bumper surface is within a fraction of a millimetre on both sides. The mounting is structural, using factory locations. The component is secure, correctly bonded and reversible.

Nobody will examine it that closely.

But when you approach your car and the whole thing reads as a coherent, purposeful machine - when no single element draws your eye for the wrong reason - you feel the difference that those details make, even if you cannot articulate exactly why.

That is what we are working towards on every car that comes through our studio.

BMW 8-Series Detailing & Bodykit FAQ

Why Should I Install a Bodykit and Ceramic Coating at the Same Time?

Combining these services ensures the most seamless finish. We install the bodykit first to ensure perfect alignment, then perform paint correction and apply the ceramic coating over both the car's bodywork and the new carbon fibre components. This provides uniform UV protection and a consistent "wet-look" gloss across the entire vehicle.

Are Bodykit Installations for the BMW 8-Series Reversible?

Yes. At our Surrey studio, we prioritize using factory mounting points. This ensures a structural, secure fitment for high-speed stability while maintaining the option to return the vehicle to its stock configuration without permanent damage to the bumpers or side panels.

How Long Does a Full Bodykit Installation and Ceramic Coating Take?

For a high-end vehicle like the BMW 8-Series, this combined process typically takes 3–4 days. This allows for meticulous dry-fitting of components, multi-stage machine polishing to remove factory defects, and the necessary curing time for the professional-grade ceramic coating.
